 The basics
Tsunayoshi Sawada is your resident dorky kid, having 0% talent to everything whatsoever. He is not good at academics, not athletic and not even popular with the girls. And to make the matter worst, his classmates has been bullying him and call him "No Good Tsuna" (dame Tsuna).
But the appearance of infant Mafioso suddenly changes Tsuna's life. He found out that he is next heir as the Tenth Boss of a well known mafia family, the Vongola. They sent Reborn to tutor him to become a well suited leader of this criminal group.
And now he is facing a difficult mob boss training under the greatest hitman, Reborn.
Tsuna was born in what it seems like a typical japanese family until he found out that his father has a connection with the mafia. His parents are Nana Sawada and Iemitsu Sawada (the external advisor of Vongola Family). He is an only child. He is born on October 14th (three days before my birthday, lol). Assuming the year of his birth and the manga starts on 2004, he was 14 years old at the start of the story, making his birth year is 1990(?), still questionable though (just my theory but remember manga has different time frame). He is currently residing in very peaceful town known as Namimori in Japan, which peace and order is maintained by the (notorious) Namimori Disciplinary Committee, headed by Hibari Kyouya.
Although always tagged as no good, Tsuna has good qualities as well, according to Fuuta’s Ranking; he is number 1 in terms of not refusing to a request. Although scared and lack confidence but when it comes to his family, he never hesitate to help even placing himself in danger.
Transformation
I don’t think “dame tsuna” or “no good Tsuna” is still an appropriate nickname for him. I think he’s starting to grow up as a reliable man. Even though he greatly refuses the position before 'till now, he gradually embraced it and started to be like one. Even at the start without the hyper dying will mode and fighting, I still like Tsuna. He is scaredy cat, not a intelligent, in short no special talent but he still accepted it all. He even said that his life is “no good” but even though he had a very disappointing life he still endures it. But everyone has a chance to change, so is Tsuna.
Reborn help Tsuna mold as a person he is now. He still afraid to make decisions but he tried his best to come up what is best for everyone, because whether he refused it, his future has been determined. He now try his best to think of things by himself he is trying not to doubt anymore that he can’t do it, he will try – at his very best. Remember he is the one who come up with X-burner and analyze the type of flame his X-gloves emits and Reborn just notice that instead of his always response that "I can't do it" now it's a "maybe". He is gradually evolving to become a dependable leader.
